Katherine has performed throughout the Northeast as a soloist and performs and coaches a wide variety of musical styles from Baroque and Renaissance music to musical theater and experimental contemporary music. She has been featured at the Boston Early Music Festival and gave the American premiere of solo cantatas by Marc'Antonio Pasqualini at the Society for Seventeenth Century Music. She sang with the Leipziger Vokalensemble, which performed regularly at Bach's St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. She concertizes and coaches Early Music with the trio Night's Black Bird, which performs on period instruments. She sings with The Bach Choir of Bethlehem where she regularly appears as a soloist. A firm believer in embracing all vocal and musical styles, she has music directed at Northampton Community College's musical theater program and she has taught courses on extended vocal technique and stage voice and movement.She also performs works by living composers and has premiered chancel operas written by award-winning composer Susan Bingham. As a scholar, she engages in public musicology, providing scholarly program notes for artists and musical organizations. She has studied, taught, and presented on topics related to performance practice, music and technology, the recorded voice, and women composers at a number of national and international conferences. Her publications can be found in the Opera Quarterly. She holds a PhD in Music History and Theory from Stony Brook University and a BA in music from Mount Holyoke College. She has studied voice at the Felix Mendelssohn Hochschule für Musik in Leipzig. Her principal teachers include Cheryl Cobb, Kathleen Flynn, and Rosa Lamereau, voice, Arthur Haas, Baroque performance practice.
