Office of the Provost

The Provost is Muhlenberg College's chief academic officer. In that capacity, she oversees the operations of every office relating to the College's academic mission, including the academic departments. She provides leadership in developing and implementing strategic goals related to that academic mission. The Provost and her office also enhance the efforts of the faculty by supporting excellence in teaching, engaged scholarship and meaningful service to the College.

Working closely with the President and other senior officers of the College, as well as with academic department chairs and faculty governance committees, the Provost provides leadership, oversight and general direction in the following areas:

  • Recruitment, appointment, retention, evaluation and development of College faculty.
  • Development and assessment of the College’s curriculum.
  • Planning and implementation for academic affairs offices, programs and academic initiatives.
  • Management of the College’s academic affairs operating budgets, restricted endowments and grants/gifts that support teaching and scholarship.
  • Representing the College in local, regional, and national organizations devoted to the advancement of the liberal arts.

The Provost strives to create a campus atmosphere that supports the principles of shared governance and academic freedom.
