Financial Aid Resources for Continuing Studies
Federal and State Aid
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) here. The federal school code for Muhlenberg College is 00330400. Completing the FAFSA will determine eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Director Student Loans, and the PHEAA PA State Grant.
Summer Study Financial Aid
Options
Financial Aid may be available for the summer semester for students enrolled at least half-time and who have completed the FAFSA. Financial aid disbursements typically occur after July 1st.
Students enrolled at least half-time can apply online for the Summer PHEAA PA State Grant. Eligibility is based on enrollment status and academic progress.
Loans
Federal Direct Loans
Federal Direct Loans are available to students who have completed the FAFSA and are enrolled at least half-time.
- A Subsidized Loan is need-based; the government pays the interest while the student is enrolled at least half-time
- An Unsubsidized Loan is not need-based; interest begins accruing after disbursement but can be paid while in school. Interest and principal payments on Direct Loans may be deferred while the student is enrolled at least half-time
Interest rates for the student loan program for 2022-2023 will be 5.5%. Federal Loan fee of 1.057% is deducted from each loan disbursement.

The aggregate loan limit for undergraduate students is $57,500; no more than $23,000 of this amount may be in a Subsidized Loan.

Scholarships
Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- Students aged 25 or older who are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and;
- Have completed at least half the requirements toward their intended degree with either full-time (3 or more course units) or half-time enrollment (2 course units);
- Are maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher;
- Have unmet financial need as demonstrated by completing the FAFSA.

Community Service Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- Tuition benefits for two courses per semester.
- Active in community service.
- Demonstrated financial need via FAFSA
- Selected by GCE scholarship committee

Constance Lewis Miller Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible women pursuing a first bachelor's degree
- Widowed, divorced, or single
- Considered Independent as per the FAFSA

First Responders Scholarship
Muhlenberg College and the Division of Continuing Studies value and support our City of Allentown community partners. A scholarship equal to a 20% tuition discount per class for enrolled students in one of our Continuing Studies programs is available to active members of the Allentown Fire, Police, or Emergency Management Services Departments.
Sam Laposata Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have completed four courses at Muhlenberg College
- Demonstrated financial need via FAFSA
- Considered Independent as per the FAFSA
