ARTIST TALK: TRENTON DOYLE HANCOCK

Hancock’s work draws from personal experience, the art historical canon, comics, pulp fiction, and a variety of pop culture references, exploring universal concepts of light and dark, good and evil, and everything in between. Hancock has an MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Philadelphia and has had solo exhibitions at numerous institutions including the Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, FL and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. TX. He was also featured in the 2000 and 2002 Whitney Biennial exhibitions, becoming one of the youngest artists in history to participate in the prestigious survey.

ARTIST WORKSHOP - SUMI INK DRAWING: WEST MEETS EAST

Holly Trostle Brigham
October 16, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Martin Art Gallery 

Work with Philadelphia artist Holly Trostle Brigham to learn Arthur Hall Smith’s unique approach to combining Western and Eastern ink techniques. Use Sumi ink, India ink, Ivory and Mars black acrylic paint, skewer sticks, bamboo reed pens, straws, brushes and learn how to brutalize a line.
