What is new?

Meet

  • Host Controls
    Hosts (meeting creators and calendar owners) of G Suite for Education meetings new meeting safety controls to manage who can join their meetings.
  • Blur your background
    To help limit distractions in your meeting, you can blur your background. You'll appear clear while everything behind you is blurred. This feature will appear only for eligible devices that meet the technical requirements (You’ll need a 4 core device or higher that supports Hyper-Threading). Background blur is currently not available on Chromebooks.
  • See up to 49 people, including yourself, in Google Meet
    You can now see up to 49 people at the same time in the auto and tiled layout options in Google Meet. In addition, the ability to see yourself as a tile on the call has been added.
  • Filter out disruptive noise in Google Meet
    Meet uses Artificial Intelligence to remove non-stationary noises, which are noises that vary widely in frequency over a short time
  • Note: Activities - Breakout Rooms, Polls and Q & A are NOT currently available for all G Suite for Education customers. These advanced features are limited to G Suite Enterprise Education licenses only. 

Drive

  • Folder sharing in shared drives now generally available
    Note: this feature was released on Sept.16 and can take up to 15 days to become available
    Shared drives empower teams and organizations to store, access, and collaborate on files. With this launch, you can share a specific folder with other users, or upgrade member access to provide users with additional permissions on specific folders within shared drives.
