Muhlenberg Recognizes Student Achievement in Abroad Scholarship
Two Muhlenberg students have been recognized for achievement associated with study abroad.Friday, March 23, 2012 09:58 AM
Sydney Yonal ’13, an international studies major and music and Russian studies double minor, was awarded the Gilman Scholarship and a Critical Language Supplement for a semester abroad in Russia. The Gilman Scholarship, a sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, aims at helping to fund student’s abroad experience.
Hannah Oros ’14, a sophomore media and communication and global health double major, was one of the eighteen selected recipients of the St. Andrews Award. Each year eighteen colleges and universities located around the Philadelphia area are invited to submit a junior candidate for the St. Andrews Award. This award allows selected students to study for their entire junior year at one of four universities in Scotland- Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and St. Andrew’s. Hannah plans on studying abroad in Glasgow, Scotland for her entire junior year.
Various Muhlenberg faculty and staff members worked with these two individuals along the way, including Donna Kish-Goodling and Susan Norling in the Study Abroad Office. Education abroad continues to be a pivotal part of students’ Muhlenberg College experience.
