Sue McNeilly to Join Muhlenberg Career Center as Executive Director

Sue McNeillyMuhlenberg will soon welcome Sue McNeilly, a higher education professional with nearly two decades of experience, as the new executive director of the College’s Career Center. McNeilly is coming to Muhlenberg from the Wasserman Center for Career Development at New York University’s School of Professional Studies, where she’s worked since 2018. McNeilly begins her role at Muhlenberg September 9.
“We are excited to welcome Sue to Muhlenberg,” says Provost Laura Furge. “She has the experiences and vision to continue to lift and support career exploration for our students, partnering with faculty and staff across campus to provide robust opportunities and programming that challenges students to excel.”
Muhlenberg President Kathleen Harring noted the College's long-running leadership in launching its students' careers. “Our alumni are very successful,” she says. “Innovative career services have played an important role in that success, and I'm excited about the energy and thought leadership Sue will bring to the College. She will help us advance the support we provide in this area, which is incredibly important to our students and their families.”

At NYU, McNeilly served in increasingly senior roles, most recently as director of the Wasserman Center for Career Development at SPS. During McNeilly’s time at the Wasserman Center, her team launched an employer site visit series for students that included alumni panels, networking lunches and job simulations. She also personally spearheaded the creation and implementation of the Identity Career Success Cohort Series, a six-week group coaching intensive to coach students who hold an underrepresented identity through conducting their job search.
Prior to her time at NYU, McNeilly worked in housing and residence life at St. John’s University, Rutgers University and Hofstra University.

McNeilly earned a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education and a master’s degree in social studies education from Hofstra University.
