July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023
On June 30, fiscal year 2022-23 concluded, and we had a phenomenal philanthropic year at Muhlenberg College! Over 7,260 alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff together contributed more than $11 million in financial gifts to the College. Thanks to the generosity of the Muhlenberg community, the College increased the goal for Boundless: The Campaign for Muhlenberg to $125 million and we received $18.1 million in new gifts and commitments this year, crossing the $100 million milestone and closing the fiscal year at $100,676,323 or 81 percent of the increased goal. Cumulatively, these are extraordinary accomplishments! The generous support of donors impacts our students and the Muhlenberg community.
Our great institution has had celebratory and transformational contributions this past year. In spring of 2023, Muhlenberg celebrated its 175th anniversary with a weekend of festivities and announcements. A gift of more than $15 million from the estate of Edward ’42 and Lois Robertson was announced as the largest gift in the history of Muhlenberg from an individual or family. We are forever grateful for the lifetime of support from the Robertsons. In addition, two faculty endowments were announced during the 175th anniversary celebration. We celebrated the $4 million gift from James R. Lentz ’66 and his wife, Debra A. Lentz, dedicated supporters of the performing arts at Muhlenberg, that will sustain faculty in two of the College’s programs in perpetuity as the Lentz Endowed Professor in Theatre and the Lentz Endowed Professor in Dance. We also witnessed the opening and dedication of the Fahy Commons for Public Engagement and Innovation as being LEED Platinum certified and the first Living Building Challenge Core ready structure in the world. These highlights are significant contributions towards Muhlenberg’s bold ambitions.
It’s the boundless and continuous support from donors and volunteers that is inspiring and greatly appreciated! From all of us at Muhlenberg College, thank you so much, and we look forward to the year ahead.
Sincerely,
Rebekkah L. Brown ’99
